EasyRotator KnowledgeBase – Error #2032

When using EasyRotator for WordPress, you may receive error #2032 while attempting to register the program or upload a rotator.  Please check each of the following common causes to resolve the problem:

Firewall or antivirus configuration problem

To use the EasyRotator editor application, your computer must be connected to the Internet.  If you are online yet still receive error #2032 while attempting to register the program or upload a rotator, this usually indicates that your firewall or antivirus software is blocking the application from accessing the internet.  For example, some Avast and AVG Antivirus users have reported issues with their firewall blocking access.

To address this problem, make sure that your firewall/antivirus software is configured to allow the EasyRotator application to access the internet.  The editor application is located at C:/Program Files (x86)/EasyRotator/EasyRotator.exe on Windows and /Applications/EasyRotator on Mac; it should be whitelisted/trusted in your firewall/antivirus program.

Configuration error in .htaccess file on server

If the problem persists and you are using a custom .htaccess file on your server, try temporarily removing it.  Syntax errors in the .htaccess file can result in error #2032.

Incorrect file permissions for plugin files

This issue is rarely the source of error #2032, but should be checked if the above suggestions didn't solve the problem.  Make sure that the following folders on your server have appropriate permissions to be accessible from the internet:

  • The plugin files should be executable and accessible on the internet; this usually corresponds to 755 file permissions.  Plugin files are located at:
    wp-content/plugins/easyrotator-for-wordpress/
  • The EasyRotator storage directory should be writable and accessible to the public; this usually corresponds to 777 file permissions.  The storage directory is located at:
    wp-content/uploads/EasyRotatorStorage/user-content/

If you're unfamiliar with Unix file permissions, you should skip this step and proceed to the next one.

If you continue to have trouble

If the above suggestions don't solve the problem, try creating or editing a rotator on a different computer in case the problem is a firewall/antivirus configuration issue that you missed.  If the problem appears on the other computer as well, please open a support ticket below and include the following important information so we can determine the source of the error:

  • The URL of your WordPress dashboard
  • Temporary credentials to login to the dashboard
  • (Optional) Temporary FTP credentials to access your site
