About the Extension

The XML Flash Slideshow v3 allows you to easily create high-impact XML-powered Flash Image Galleries, all in Dreamweaver MX, MX 2004, 8, or CS3. You can see a list of features below, or to see the finished product, go to the Samples page.

To create an image gallery, you simply open a Dreamweaver Wizard.  Specify images, make desired customizations, and insert the slideshow in just minutes.  Any edits can be made using the edit wizard.  The customization options will satisfy the most demanding designers, while the prebuilt-defaults make usage easy for beginners.  Support for fully dynamic image galleries make the product a coder's best friend.

Because the slideshows are Flash-based, all of your users will receive the exact same impressive experience. You won't be at the mercy of browser compatibility quirks, as is the case with Ajax and Javascript based technologies. The rock-solid stability and universal ubiquity of the Flash Player ensures uniform delivery of your slideshows.

Requirements

• Dreamweaver MX or higher IS required - Dreamweaver CS3 is supported
• Flash MX 2004 or higher is NOT required, but can be used for even greater customization
• Fireworks 3.0 or higher is NOT required, but allows for automatic image conversion and thumbnail generation
• Windows and Macintosh are supported.

  Absolutely every aspect of the slideshow layout can be customized.  Create multiple views / screens, and then choose layout elements to add to each view.  Select from a large library of control elements.

  Total Style Customization

  Absolutely all colors, fonts, sizes, spacings - in a word, everything - can be changed to fit the look and feel you want.  Even programmatically oriented options, such as alignments and transition durations, can be customized.

• Numerous Image Transitions, Watermarks, and Panning Support

  Available transitions include Fade, Blinds, Iris, Photo, PixelDissolve, Wipe, and Random - all of which can be used with any type of slideshow.  Easily add a watermark to protect your images.  Show larger images, such as panoramas, while maintaining close-up detail with the aid of image-panning support.

  Easy Integration with Existing FLA Documents

  Flash is not required, but if you want to integrate with existing FLA documents, the process is easy.  The included Flash Component allows you to generate XML using Dreamweaver, then create stunning Flash Slideshow projects in Flash.

  No need to worry about image sizes - the extension automatically scales photos according to your settings.  For thumbnail images, you can just use the full size photos, or let the XFS v3 create thumbnails for you using Fireworks.

  Tell your users about each picture, or create a PowerPoint-style narrated presentation.  Audio can be added to any and every level in a slideshow - background audio, individual gallery audio, or audio for each image.  Advanced audio controls can be included to enhance user control.

  Built-In Preloader and Flash Player Detection

  The preloaders ensure users are aware of loading progress, whether it is the initial SWF load, or subsequent data and image loads.  Built-in Flash Player Detection ensures all users will already have the necessary Flash Player installed, or else be given the option to upgrade.

  Custom Image Links

  Apply links to each image.  Or, for greater control, use the Custom Link Button, which allows you to include a button which links to a custom page based on the current image.  This makes 'More Information,' 'Purchase Image,' or 'Add To Lightbox' type functionality possible.
