Before contacting support, please check these common issues »
Problem: None, or only some of the images are showing up in my slideshow.
Issue: You are probably using progressive Jpeg images. Progressive Jpegs are not supported. What are progressive images?
Solution: Re-export your images so that they are non-progressive.

Problem: I installed the extension. However, the XML Flash Slideshow v2 menu item doesn't appear on the Insert bar.
Issue: First, make sure you're looking on the Insert Bar, not the Insert Menu. Click here for a screenshot.

If the extension is still inaccessable, you are experiencing a bug in Dreamweaver and the Extension Manager that occasionally shows up.
Solution: Un-install and re-install the extension a few times. This usually fixes the issue. If this doesn't work, download and install another extension from somewhere such as the Macromedia Exchange.

Problem: When I preview the slideshow in a different browser, all I see is a little black box with a green border.
Issue: Your alternate browser has the Flash Player version 6 or earlier installed. The Flash Player 7 is required to view the slideshow.
Solution: In your alerternate browser, download and install the Flash Player 7. After doing this, the slideshow should appear correctly.

If you don't want users who don't have the Flash Player 7 to experience this issue, consider adding a Flash detection script to your site. A helpful tutorial on the subject can be found at Kirupa.com.

Problem: I inserted the slideshow, but nothing shows up in the browser. When I view the HTML, it shows something like ../../../../../../../v2flashslideshow, but this folder doesn't exist.
Issue: The page you are inserting the slideshow into isn't within a Dreamweaver site. For the slideshow to work, the page must be within a Dreamweaver site root.
Solution: Either move the page to within a Dreamweaver site root, or create a site based on the folder containing the page. Then, recreate the slideshow.

Advanced: How to define a remote site in Dreamweaver

Problem: When I view the slideshow on the remote server, the loading bar shows up correctly. However, all of the images appear as red blocks.
Issue: The images are corrupted. This is because they have been uploaded in ASCII mode instead of Binary mode.
Solution: Re-upload the images. Make sure that your FTP program is set to upload images in Binary mode.

Problem: When I view the slideshow on the remote server, nothing at all shows up where the slideshow should.
-- Or --
When I view the slideshow on the remote server, the loading bar freezes on 'Loading Data...0%'
Issue: Likely, the (site root)/v2flashslideshow/ folder hasn't been uploaded. This folder contains files necessary for the slideshow to work.
Solution: Upload all of the files in (site root)/v2flashslideshow/ folder.

Problem: I just upgraded to Dreamweaver 8. When I try to open the extension, a Javascript error occurs, and the extension won't work.
Issue: We addressed Dreamweaver 8 compatibility issues closely following the release of Studio 8. You need to download the latest update to the extension. This free update ensures Dreamweaver 8 compatibility.
Solution: You can lookup your download instructions by clicking here.

Problem: When I view the slideshow, images will randomly appear squished. On each page reload, different images will be affected.
Issue: This is an issue caused by having images much larger than the slideshow's available image viewport.
Solution: To remedy the issue, resize your images to a size
closer to that of the available image area.
